Dunderry 5-6 Duleek/Bellewstown 1-17

This round 2 Corn Na Boinne match was played in Dunshaughlin, what was too unfold in this game you would not believe.

Duleek opened the scoring in the 2nd min and followed up with 5 unanswered points, Dunderry found it hard to get into the game and the seldom attacks into the Duleek half were snubbed out easily. Luke Martyn did cause problems but some poor finishing and wasteful passing didn't help. Duleek piled on the pressure and scored a goal in the 21st minute. This seemed too jolt Dunderry into life a following move involving Morgan Callaghan, Martyn and Paddy Kennelly found the industrious Conor Daly whose fierce shot hit the net. This was followed by a Kennelly point. Duleek hit a further 3 points but Dunderry could have scored 2 goals but for the woodwork and the Duleek keeper leaving the half time score 1-9 to 1-1 in Duleek's favour.

Dunderry came out with a totally different attitude min the second half and scored from a free by Dermot Kelly in the 31st minute quickly followed by a goal from Kennelly when he won a high ball in the square turned 2 defenders and hit the bottom corner of the net.

Minutes later Dec Mahon volleyed into the roof of the net but Duleek responded with 4 unanswered points.

All the drama was kept till the end of this encounter. In the 59th minute Kennelly received a pass from Gareth Dooley he side stepped 2 defenders and fired a powerful shot at the Duleek goal it took a wicked deflection and found the top right corner of the net. Duleek scored a point then Callaghan won the resulting kick out and found Jordan Martin out wide he soloed to about 30 yards out and was fouled. He lofted in a high ball Kennelly and Martyn challenged with 2 defenders it bounced around until it found Conor Farrell his shot took a deflection and it looped up over the keeper into the net in the 63rd min to put Dunderry ahead.

With 1 minute left Duleek worked the ball down for a chance of drawing the game but just as they got into a shooting position the referee blew for full time to leave Dunderry winners on a score of 5-6 to 1-17.

Up next for the winners is a 1/4 final against Syddan on Saturday October 13th.
